Yeah, the name is awkward, both to say and to type. "Tomorrow Comes Today" sounds like it came directly from the James Bond film title generator machine. But it looks like the campaign is picking up a bit of steam. They've now released the extended demo to non-backers as well.

Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today is the awkward title of an intriguing, dark point-and-click adventure game currently on Kickstarter. I like the stark, angular art style.

The Great Wave, a world-shaking catastrophe, has plunged humanity back into the dark ages. A mysterious plague spreads over the land, granting people psychic powers... before dissolving them. You play Michael, a "Blankhead" who can remember nothing of his past, and little of the events surrounding The Great Wave.

Check out the playable demo on the Dead Synchronicity Kickstarter page. (There's an extended demo available for project backers.)

As many of you know by now, the Elementary My Dear Holmes Kickstarter campaign got suspended yesterday to to funding irregularities.

That's a politically correct way of saying that someone astroturfed the project, creating hundreds of fake Kickstarter accounts and pledges. The details are on http://www.kickstartadventure.com/home/kickstarter-suspends-elementary-my-dear-holmes/

I'm going to edit my post above to make clear the campaign's been suspended.

I hope this sort of thing doesn't happen to other adventure game projects on Kickstarter. I've been truly excited about all the great new projects starting up recently.

Although I plan on playing Mage's Initiation on my laptop with a mouse, making the design work for touchscreens can also help improve the usability of the interface for those of us with a more traditional setup.

I wish more games ported to the desktop from mobile versions took the same care in brushing up the interface for non-touch devices!

EDIT: The Elementary, My Dear Holmes! campaign has been suspended by Kickstarter. More details here: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/09/06/ouya-free-the-games-fund-project-suspended-by-kickstarter/

Elementary, My Dear Holmes! has launched on Kickstarter. The development team at Victory Square Games describe it best:

QuoteA point-and-click adventure game starring legendary sidekick John Watson on an epic quest to prove that Sherlock Holmes is just a jerk.

These guys are big fans of all the old Sierra and LucasArts adventures and want to make something every bit as fun and funny as those classics of yore.
