Let's try again to get this idea recognized :)

I think it depends on how you see it. When you pledge to a KS you pay for the development of a product. And for doing so you get some gifts as thanks. So while I understand your point I don't think it's wrong to mark as "Gift"

So how are you going to solve it? What values are you going to put on the packages? The amount of $ one pledged? Or how's the swags value going to be estimated?
#4
Replay Games did nothing wrong. They wrote the packages as gift and a low value (i.e. NOT the pledge sum). I live in Sweden and the package arrived safe and sound to me.

It's not Replay Games fault that some countries (Germany seems to be the most common case) have strange custom fees handlings.

The project is cancelled, at least for now.

And unfortunately it seems like they still have no idea why they couldn't get funded

I still would love to see a new Jim Walls game but I think he should get a new development team tbh

I still think this :)

I read somewhere that PQ was Sierras 3rd most popular franchise so he should be a pretty marketable name. But unless you are Tim Schafer, a name can only get you so far. The other stuff must work as well
#8
Totally agree Nipples. I doubled my earlier highest KS pledge when I pledged for Mage's Initiation. None deserved the KS success as much as Himalaya Studios did.
#9
Yes I was really hoping that Jim and Britney would team up and Himalaya Studios could make the game. I realize more and more that Precinct won't see the day of light unless something drastically changes. A big shame :/

That said, you guys can still make a great cop game, with Jim or without!
#10
Videos would be very nice. I think you have everything to gain by making the Himalaya Studios staff a little less anonymus
#11
Yeah, Realm looks very promising
#12
Britney (and Himalaya Studios) together with Jim Walls making a new cop adventure game is a match made in heaven :)

General Forum / Introduce yourself
April 02, 2013, 05:45:00 AM
I was thinking we could all introduce ourselves here, bet there are both "familiar" and "new" faces here :)

My name is Roger, from Sweden and I was born 1982. Got a Commodore 64 as a christmas gift 1989 and thus my interest for computer/video games was born. One year later I sold the C64 and got a Nintendo NES instead, which was, and still is, my favorite video game platform.

My love for adventure games was born a few years later, in the middle of the 90s, when I played the 2nd "Leisure suit Larry"-game on my friends Amiga. I remember I found it fantastic that you could write what you wanted to happen and the game _responded_! A little later we found "The Secret of Monkey Island" and I was sold on the point-n-click adventure games as well. The humour, the story, the characters and the puzzles really spoke to me.

So from that day until the end of the 90s I played most adventure games from Lucasarts and Sierra, as well as many others (Simon the Sorcerer, Discworld etc.). I never liked the transcision from 2D to 3D for games in general and specially not for Adventure games. It felt like that used 3D "because they could" rather than because it would make the game good. Using the keypad instead of the mouse to navigate together with the horrible 3D graphics in many early games, kinda ruined the Adventure game genre for me in the end of the 90s. The last game I bought back then was "Grim Fandango".

The new millenium game and my beloved Adventure games were nowhere to be found. Sierra was gone and Lucasarts only released Star Wars-games :(
But in 2004 or 2005 the name "Tierra" catched my eyes (dunno where I saw it exactly) and a stunningly beautiful 2D remake of "King's Quest 1" was found. What? How? When? Who? My long lost love for adventure game was suddenly there again. I played thru the remakes, I replayed the oldies and I discovered oldies I had never played before. Bought "Al Emmo" in 2006 or 2007 and registered at this forum. I have been checking in here from time to time but unfortunately it's been pretty inactive. Hopefully we will change that now :)

For many years I've been waiting for "Mage's Initiation" and ever since I played the Sierra remakes I've wanted to say "Shut up and take my money" to the Himalaya people but it's never been possible. Not until the Kickstarter. So of course I became a backer and here I am again.

Tim Schafer might be the one who kickstarted the Adventure game genre, but for me personally, it was thanks to you guys at Himalaya Studios that my interest was reborn and it was nice to finally be able to give you a proper "Thank you" with the Kickstarter.

I think you did everything right at Himalaya Studios, therefore the Kickstarter was so successful (together with the help from us backers ofc. ;)). Congratulations!

Played thru the demo and information about what the stats do is really the only negative thing I can think of. Didn't see any bug at all and everything looked perfect. So that the only feedback I can give  :satisfied:

Soon $95k
I am really glad (and also a little surprised) that this KS has been so successful  :D
#18
Nice, that should do it

Thank you for resseting my password, had totally forgotten it since this forum hasn't been that active. Hope that'll change now :)

Do you have some MI art that I can make a Facebook Cover picture of?

Quote from: "GameDevChris"Have you inquired about this bug on the TellTale forums at tall?  I am not sure of the exact copy protection method they have used on the game, but it seems like this is most likely what's causing the protection error on your system. We haven't had any reports of this occurring before. TellTale may know of some way to bypass it and get the demo working as intended.

Failing that, I'd suggest trying to download the demo version from our own website, which does not have any kind of protection placed on it, meaning that it shouldn't give you any error message at all.  The difference is that the version available on our own site also allows you to play to the end of Act1 with no time restriction.

Yes I did post there as well and it seems like they couldn't answear it and told me to try here instead :)
Anyway, I will try to download from your page instead. It seems like himalayastudios.com is out of order(?) or where do you mean I should download it?

Quote from: "GameDevChris"Which version of the demo did you download.  For example, did you download it from the Telltale Games website, from our own own website, or from another site?

I did download it from Telltale

Windows XP and I have all latest stuff installed.

(I get the welcome screen as normal, it's when I click "Play the free trial" and the game starts I get this error)

The "Protection Error" is seen in the taskbar when I try to alt+tab, but it can't be shown as a pop-up dialogue box or something. The only thing I can do at this point is to ctrl+alt+del because the program shows as "Not responding". When I have closed it I get back to the welcome screen with the text "Learn more about this game" instead of "Play free trial". I guess that's a screen that always appear when you stop playing the demo.

Technical & Bugs forum / Al Emmo protection error
May 31, 2007, 07:01:40 PM
Can't get the trial version of this game to work. When I start it, all I get is white pointer for a few seconds, then a black screen and soon I get "Protection Error" and the game crashes.
Anyone else experienced this?
